TPA Continuing Education Endorsements

Need approved continuing education (CE) hours for Texas psychologists?

In Texas, at least half of a psychologist’s continuing education (CE) hours must come from associations, accredited universities, school districts, or government agencies. TPA is authorized by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP) to endorse CE activities, making it easy for your organization to provide qualifying credit.

With a TPA endorsement, your participants can trust that the program meets the standards required by TSBEP. As the endorser, TPA takes responsibility for reviewing the content and ensuring all requirements are met.

TPA partners with organizations, businesses, and educational institutions to review and endorse CE opportunities. Our Science Committee reviews all endorsed activities to ensure quality, ethics, and alignment with professional standards.

CE Endorsement Criteria

To qualify for TPA endorsement, your program must:

  • Be directly related to the practice of psychology
  • Involve a doctoral-level psychologist (if from outside Texas) in planning
  • Feature speakers with demonstrated expertise and experience (verified via CV)
  • Follow APA’s Ethical Principles and Practice Guidelines
  • Be at least one hour in length, excluding breaks
  • Be presented as a workshop, symposium, or as part of a larger approved event

Not eligible: Paper readings at professional meetings or informal/discussion/interest group sessions.

How to Apply

  1. Complete the online application at least 90 days before your event
    1. (Submit one application per presentation)
  2. Once payment is received, your submission goes to the Science Committee for review
  3. You’ll receive a decision within 30 days

Endorsement Fees

Members & Nonprofit Organizations:

  • Application Fee: $50
  • CE Credit: $50/hour (max. 10)

Non-Members & For-Profit Organizations:

  • Application Fee: $100
  • CE Credit: $100/hour (max. 10)

Expedited Review: For applications submitted 30–89 days prior to the event, there will be an additional rush fee of $250.

Event Promotion Requirements

Submit your flyer or brochure 30 days prior to your event for approval. It must include:

  • Event schedule with start and end times
  • Presenter credentials (highest degree and current role)
  • Number of CE hours offered
  • The following required statement:
    • “This activity is approved by the Texas Psychological Association (TPA). TPA is an approved provider of continuing education approved by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists to offer continuing education for psychologists.”
