Legislative & Regulatory Update
TPA continues to actively monitor regulatory activity that affects the practice of psychology in Texas, including the implementation of recent BHEC legislation and rule changes. Members of the TSBEP and BHEC Monitoring Committee attended the January 15, 2026 Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists meeting to track developments related to licensure, discipline, and board governance.
This work reflects TPA’s advocacy in action. As BHEC legislation was implemented, TPA consulted with legal experts and translated the requirements into clear guidance to help psychologists navigate records requests and regulatory compliance.
Board Appointments and Leadership Updates
Two new public members were appointed to TSBEP: Brian Rentsch and Chris Moose. In addition, Drs. Becker and Singg were reappointed to serve another term. Dr. Roxana Lambdin was elected Vice Chair of TSBEP. Mr. Bridges will continue serving as the TSBEP public member representative to BHEC, with Dr. Cartwright serving as the professional member.
TPA will continue to monitor how new appointments and leadership roles affect decision-making related to licensure, enforcement, and professional standards.

The Texas Psychologist — Now On Air
The Texas Psychologist has evolved into a podcast, led by Dr. John Delatorre, who brings his experience as Editor-in-Chief of the magazine to this new platform.
With two episodes already available on TPA’s YouTube channel, the podcast offers direct updates on legislative issues, ethics, licensure, and the future of psychology in Texas.

Call for Volunteers: Podcast & Elections Task Force
TPA is seeking members to help shape upcoming initiatives:
- Podcast Volunteers: Assist with planning, identifying guests, and elevating member voices across Texas.
- Elections Task Force: Review and strengthen nomination and election processes to better support the current state of the organization.

Affiliate Membership Updates
TPA has refined its Affiliate membership structure to better serve the needs of our diverse community of non-doctoral supporters.
Rather than one combined Affiliate category, TPA now offers two distinct pathways: one for organizations and one for individual community members. This allows more intentional support for each group while introducing a reduced-rate option for counselors, therapists, and other mental health supporters who want to stay connected to TPA’s updates, education, and networking.
If you know a company that provides products or services to psychologists, or professionals at other levels who would benefit from TPA’s updates and engagement opportunities, we encourage you to connect them with us. They can also visit the Join page to explore benefits and options at each level.
This update maintains TPA’s doctoral membership standard while welcoming mission-aligned partners who share a commitment to mental health.

TPA's In Memoriam
TPA is introducing a new In Memoriam process to honor members of our community who have passed away in the past year. If you are aware of a colleague’s passing, you can submit their name, date of passing, and an optional photo through a simple online form. Individuals will be recognized at Annual Conference during a moment of silence as we reflect on their contributions to psychology in Texas.
