Join TPA’s 2025–2026 Postdoctoral Fellowship Lecture Collaborative
TPA is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural Postdoctoral Fellowship Lecture Collaborative, a pilot program approved by the TPA Board of Trustees to address critical gaps in programming and member engagement.
This statewide initiative is open to private practices and training sites in Texas that employ postdoctoral fellows. The program will run from September 2025 through August 2026, bringing together fellows and training directors to build community and share resources.
What Is It?
A TPA-sponsored statewide collaborative for training directors and psychologists to jointly develop and deliver 10–11 monthly CEU-eligible lectures for postdoctoral fellows. These sessions will take place on the second Friday of each month from 12–1 p.m. (plus two optional in-person meet-ups at the TPA Annual Conference).
Why Was This Program Created?
The program directly supports TPA’s strategic goals:
- Creating diverse, research-based learning experiences for members
- Building stronger external partnerships through education and coordinated advocacy
TPA is your professional home—a place to build your career foundation, grow your network, and access resources that help you navigate licensure, develop your CV, and thrive as a psychologist in Texas.

New Local Area Societies Membership Type and Benefits
Local Area Societies (LAS) are critical regional organizations for psychologists. LAS coordination with TPA allows statewide advocacy, important information and resource sharing, and vital connection to support the profession of psychology.
Over the last year, representatives from all of the Local Area Societies in Texas were invited to participate in a TPA/LAS Task Force. After several meetings and great discussion, the Task Force recommended, and the TPA board approved, a new way to structure the partnership between the state association and local area societies. We are pleased to introduce Affiliate Membership for Local Area Societies. We hope your LAS will join us!

Comments Requested: Resolution on Palliative Care and End-of-life Issues
APA’s Committee on Aging (CONA) is seeking comments on the revised Resolution on Palliative Care and End-of-life Issues. Comments may be submitted either on behalf of a board or committee or by individual APA Members. The comment period closes on August 18, 2025.
The original resolution, Resolution on Palliative Care and End-of-life Issues, was written by CONA and passed by the APA Council of Representatives in 2017. CONA identified in their review of policies that the content and language of the resolution needed significant updating. The proposed revision of the original resolution provides current science, corrects outdated language, and addresses present-day issues related to the impact of palliative care and end-of-life issues on individuals and society. It is CONA’s hope that the revised resolution will serve APA’s advocacy efforts and encourage research and dissemination of evidence-based assessment and interventions mitigating the psychological effects of palliative care and end-of-life issues on society.
